How it works
All-in RPM spreads eligible revenue over every mile included in the trip. Empty miles still use fuel and truck capacity even though they do not carry the paid load.
The formula
Keep currency, units and time periods consistent. Percentage inputs use percentage points (enter 5 for 5%). Results are rounded only for display; tiny nonzero values may use scientific notation. Undefined ratios are shown as unavailable.
$1,800 across 600 loaded and 100 deadhead miles gives $2.57/mi all-in, compared with $3.00/mi loaded. Empty miles are 14.29% of the 700-mile movement.
Calculation method
Pickup deadhead is always included. Post-delivery repositioning is included only when entered; the mileage breakdown shows that choice. Approved accessorial revenue adds to the numerator.
Interpretation
Adding miles with unchanged revenue reduces revenue per mile. This does not by itself measure profit, time commitment, hours available or the destination market.
Limitations
Use your own carrier costs, fee agreements and approved revenue. These are planning estimates, not booking recommendations or guarantees. Inputs stay in your browser; no trip or settlement figures are saved.
Using this in a dispatch decision
Include the empty drive to pickup and any repositioning you intend to allocate to this load. At $1,800 for 600 loaded miles plus 100 empty miles, the relevant total is 700 miles: about $2.57 per mile, not the $3 loaded-mile rate.

Frequently asked questions
Why can a high posted rate have a low all-in RPM?
Deadhead adds miles without the same additional load revenue. Include all empty movement required by the plan before comparing alternatives.
